Tabitha Staehr is a 19 year old young lady from Lincoln,
Nebraska.  At the age of 11 years old, she started her own
foundation in memory of her best friend Schuyler Peterson.

The inspiration behind the Schuyler Peterson Toy Drive Inc.
was Schuyler herself.  This young girl was diagnosed with
childhood cancer at the age of six and struggled with
spina-bifida from birth.  She fought a brave fight, succumbing
to the cancer (malignant brain tumors) at the age of eight
years old.
Tabitha and Schuyler were best friends and
spent hours together playing, talking about
their futures and sharing their dreams with one
another.  Once Schuyler knew that she was
not going to win her battle she made a
request.  Schuyler asked that Tabitha
continued to celebrate her birthday. In
honoring that request, Tabitha’s mission has
become collecting toys and donating them to
children in need, in Schuyler’s memory.
The Schuyler Peterson Toy Drive has given toys to children in need not only in
Nebraska but in Missouri and is currently collecting toys to be sent to Oklahoma
tornado victims.
A trike-a-thon is held annually to raise money for cancer research for St. Jude Children’
s hospital and money is raised annually for Make-a-wish foundation in Schuyler’s
memory.  Schuyler was a recipient of a wish and was able to meet Shawnia Twain a
highlight of her short time here on earth.  In 8 short years this little girl touched many
hearts here on earth and she taught the ones closest to her one of the most important
lessons in life, the ability to give to others and always to keep fighting.  We will continue
fulfilling dreams of children in need while educating others on childhood cancer
awareness and research.
